Every now and then an artist comes from
nowhere to take the music world by storm. Enter Lauren Waterworth,
a 15 year old girl with a voice beyond her years. Signed by
Pete Waterman the Hit Man from ITV's Pop Idol when she was only
11. This is a story of talent versus conscience. A child who
sang with the voice of an angel against a music guru who had
vowed never again to work with a minor.
Pete received a demo tape featuring Lauren's vocals, a track
close to his heart, one that he had published a few years before.
After hearing this demo tape he was stunned.

When he finally met Lauren face to face
he was shocked. An agonising decision rested on his shoulders.
Should he sign a minor or let her develop for a few years and
risk missing out on the biggest opportunity of his life. Speaking
on his passion for his new signing, Pete is quoted as saying
"The North West is a breeding ground of exceptional British
talent not only for it's quality but it's breadth. Take the
diversity of Lennon & McCartney, Gracie Fields and George
Formby and one should never expect the ordinary.

At
four years old Lauren was singing along to the Radio, TV, and Hollywood
musicals, entertaining her family who didn't realise at the time
that she was already learning her craft. At 8 she entered a major
local talent show - stunned everyone and won with overwhelming applause.
The North West of England was now awakened to Lauren's talents and
after several slots on local TV news she became a regular on BBC
GMR, singing live on Sunday mornings.
Since then a phenomenal interest in her has resulted in numerous
invitations for her talent to be displayed. Lauren has appeared
with Rick Wakeman, Tony Hadley and Atomic Kitten at the opening
of the Warrington Peace Centre in front of high profile guests including
Mo Molam, John Major and members of the Royal family.
She has also performed at Tracey Shaw's wedding and Phil Neville's
Moulin Rouge charity bash. She has toured with Westlife at 26 different
venues throughout the UK.
In true northern tradition Lauren's mum and dad have kept her feet
firmly on the ground. She adores and scraps with her younger brothers
Liam and Luke, as does any normal teenager. They are a down to earth,
close family with a daughter devoid of any delusions of grandeur.
Spending just five minutes with Lauren will convince you of her
ambition, drive and talent yet her grounded upbringing shines through.
This was more than enough to tempt Pete Waterman to start planning
her launch , to break his 20 year old vow, to shelve his involvement
with the winner of Pop Idol, to tell Steve Jenkins of Zomba Records
of his find and then to produce her first single 'Baby Now That
I've Found You 'which was released on Jive records label.
Lauren followed up with two albums, "The Show" and "Beyond
Her Years", the latter selling over 60,000 copies to date.
From this album came another single "Butterfly Kisses"
Lauren has performed these songs on numerous radio and TV shows.
She appeared on a Songs of Praise Special working with such stars
as Sir Cliff Richard, Duel and Aled Jones.
The promotion of her album took her throughout the UK and Northern
Ireland where she appeared and sang on "The Kelly Show".
Her latest appearance was on Granada TV " The Andy Prior Show"
an experience that Lauren thoroughly enjoyed.
Lauren's amazing talent was again recognised as this quote from
Producer/Director Mike Sergeant shows.
"It was a delight to have Lauren Waterworth on Andy Prior's
Big Band Show produced at Granada Television...I had met Lauren
when she had sung before at Granada....when she kindly agreed to
be on the Big Band Show we were all very excited. We new that a
talent so young would wow us and impress many others with the sheer
quality and maturity of her voice. She hadn't sung with a Big Band
before so this was a real and new challenge for her. She rose to
the challenge with true professionalism.....what more could I ask
for.....here we had something to impress those valuable viewers.
Thanks Lauren from all on the programme, we look forward to working
with you again...and hopefully soon".
Mike Sergeant
.Producer/Director APBBS
Amidst all of this Lauren still finds time to support her favourite
rugby team Wigan Warriors of which she has been an avid supporter
as long as she can remember.
Lauren attends every home game and loves to watch her favourite
players Andy Farrell and Brian Carney.
Lauren already has a tremendous fan base
and has launched a brand new Official Fan Club.
